This third edition of Romics was without any doubt under the sign of “to de dance!” (the unforgettable phrase that Roberto said every time we had to re-start the play after breaks, which were often too too short!)… may be not everyone can understand, but those who passed in front of our stand during the fair certainly saw some strange people on a tiny stage… they were us! It was really stressing to change continuously costumes and to play the numerous choreographies we prepared for the six plays (subdivided into four days), in fact all the plays were danced. We were very tired due to the rehearsals but very happy for ourprogress, we would give to cosplay a more musical and striking look, and obviously make characters being more real. We played a lot of different cosplays, such as the nice Ah! Megami-sama, or the more provocative Bakuretsu hunter, passing through the carrying away The slayers, terminating with a preview based on Final Fantasy X 2: a ballet played by Yuna on the music of "Real Emotion". But we think that the largest approval was obtained by the remake of the concert of Jem and the holograms. It was funny to play a cartoon’s singer, the costumes we used were inspired to those the character of the cartoon wear in the famous video “Glitter ‘N Gold”, we tried to make Jem and the Holograms be similar to Hollywood stars, highlighting them by the use of reflecting and iridescent clothes. Jem wore also a boa made of white feathers and both dresses and make up were full of golden glitters, such as anyway those of the two dancers who accompanied her. To present the contest we chose a more simple but by the way known manga: “Haikara-san ga tooru” and if she really was an “on the wave” girl no music surround would be more well chosen than Cyndi Lauper’s “Girls just want to have fun” on whom notes we all danced at the end of the play.It really was the most lively and tiring cosplay we made until now! A little anecdote happened about a week before Romics: it was the dress rehearsal day… did you ever try to do it without electricity? We suppose all of you remember the “Notte Bianca”* of 2003 (for those who didn’t know what happened, well there was a great black out that night), well suppose to be in front of a gym entrance, you’ve got the door key in your hand… but the electric opener, obviously, won’t open!!! Isn’t it funny? Well the subsequent nights were really sleepless* for us to recover the wasted time! |
