Sicuramente Jeeg robot d’acciaio (Kotetsu Jeeg) è un anime cult per tutti coloro che sono cresciuti col mito dei “robottoni” negli ormai (ahime’) lontani anni 70/80. Quasi tutti noi abbiamo seguito incollati allo schermo le avventure di Hiroshi Shiba contro la famigerata Regina Himika e tutto il regno Yamatai e sicuramente almeno una volta abbia gridato da piccoli la indimenticabile frase “Miwa, lancia i componenti!”.
Quando abbiamo saputo dell’arrivo in Italia del Maestro Go Nagai, creatore di questo cartone animato come di tantissimi altri (Goldrake, Devilman, Mazinga, Cutey Honey…) ci siamo lasciati consigliare su quale potevano essere i costumi dedicati a questo grandissimo autore. Abbiamo seguito da subito il consiglio di una cosplayer che noi stimiamo molto, Cris… “fate i cattivi di Nagai!”… come poter dire di no?... Il primo nome che ci è venuto in mente è quello di Himika, come poter dimenticare la Regina dai lunghi capelli a medusa?... poi, seguendo un filo logico siamo arrivati all’Imperatore del Drago e al Generale Flora. I lavori sono stati duri anche a causa del poco tempo e con molti problemi, riscontrati specialmente per la realizzazione dei capelli di Himika e il drago dell’Imperatore. Il risultato finale a noi è piaciuto moltissimo… ma la soddisfazione più grande è stato lo sguardo di Go Nagai quando ci ha visti!!

Without any doubt Jeeg (Kotetsu Jeeg) is a cult anime for those who growth under the myth of big robots during 70/80’s. The most part of us followed the adventures of Hiroshi Shiba against the queen Himika and Yamatai kingdom staying very close to the tv screen, and surely (maybe just only one time) everyone of us said the unforgettable phrase: “Miwa, shoot the components!”. When we became informed that the great master Go Nagai (the author of Jeeg, and other very well known characters such as Goldrake, Mazinga, Devilman and Cutey Honey) will be in Italy, we asked all our friends which will be the best characters to play in honour of this great drawer. So when Cris (a cosplayer we really estimate) said us: «well, why don’t you play some of his evil characters?» we immediately accept her suggestion. The first character we thought to was Himika, the unforgettable queen with long “octopussy” hair, and so on we obviously thought to the Dragoon’s Emperor and to General Flora. It was an hard job to realize all costumes, so due to the few time at our disposition and to the great number of difficulties in realizing Himika’s hair and Emperor’s dragoon. But at the end we enjoyed very much the fina results, and most of all we enjoyed the expression of Go Nagai’s face when he saw us!!!
